Bellville Sassoon Exhibition

On a recent trip to Bath Fashion Museum I was lucky enough to see their collection of Bellville Sassoon couture garments which were donated, along with various fashion drawings, a few years ago.
Also on show were a selection of Princess Diana's outfits which were specially designed for her, there also were letters between her and David Sassoon discussing the details of the designs which were very touching.
I have included photos of my favourite dresses from the exhibition, it was so interesting to be able to look at these gowns so closely and see how intricately they are constructed. I also took this chance to practise my observational drawing in the museum. I am going to create some fashion illustrations from these in my next fashion class as I think these dresses could be quite challenging but also have some good results.

Shiny Shoes

Shiny Shoes

The metallic trend can be a hard one to pull off but I think shoes are a great way to wear the trend. It was very popular during 2013 but I never got round to getting myself a pair so I am determined to this spring! I love the rose gold tones that are around and the cut out brogues are also amazing. I love the contrast between a heavy soled shoe with a pretty pink shine, like the Topshop ones I've featured in this small collection of my current favourite metallic styles.

A Floral Affair

A Floral Affair

Topshop print romper / Topshop print romper / Topshop shirts top / Topshop activewear pants / Givenchy black slip on shoes / Givenchy multi color purse / Marc Jacobs daisy perfume

I love wearing busy floral prints all year round however spring means that the shops are even fuller of petal covered clothes. I need to hunt down a high street version of these Givenchy shoes and bag as well as get my hands on the Topshop daisy playsuit! I loved that the print was a little different; the daisies look as though they are spilling down the front. The shape looks kind of retro to me and I can just imagine it with long hair and massive 70’s sunglasses.

Identity

For a recent photography assignment I was asked to create a self portrait which didn't include myself. At first I wasn't sure how to interpret this but then I found a blog named Things Organized Neatly. I love how simple the images featured here are, a group of objects can tell you a lot without any explanation, I could scroll for hours!
I collected a group of my possessions which I felt represented my interests and personality and attempted to recreate a similar neat layout, when I gain access to a studio I aim to create this piece again but with a clearer, crisp white background for a more defined image.
